Questions people ask
What is the debt snowball method?
You pay the minimum on every debt, then put everything left in your budget on the smallest balance. When that one is paid off, its payment rolls onto the next smallest. The order is by balance, not by interest rate, so you get quick wins early and keep going.
Snowball or avalanche, which one saves more?
The avalanche (highest interest rate first) usually saves a bit more interest. The snowball usually gets finished, because clearing a whole debt in the first months keeps people motivated. This calculator uses the snowball. If your rates are close, the difference is small.
How accurate is the debt-free date?
It is an estimate. The calculator adds interest monthly and assumes your budget stays the same. Real cards compound daily and your budget will change, so expect the date to move by a month or two.
Does the full tracker do more than this page?
Yes. The ClearPath spreadsheet takes up to 10 debts, shows the plan month by month with the date each debt clears, and updates the dashboard as you enter what you paid. It works in Excel and Google Sheets.
